(Re)discovering the golf course (1991-1996)
Brioni remains national park but the political and economic system changes and golf is not labeled anymore are “imperialistic” sport. A group of entusiasts comes, in summer 1991, to Brioni and begin to (re)discover the old golf course. Together with the management of the National park is decided to restore nine holes from old layouts of the golf course that way lying there, just under a shallow layer of soil. Before this development, we were playing on that “imaginary” layout.
By spring 1993 the golf course was ready to host an official tournament, exactly seventy years after the first offcial golf tournament in 1923.
